Why the mass mobilization of police officers in Ukraine is risky

The National Police of Ukraine explained why a mass mobilization of law enforcement officers could be dangerous. According to Andriy Nebitov, Deputy Head of the National Police, approximately 9,000 police officers are currently carrying out combat missions on the front lines. Another 34,000 are maintaining order in areas near the front lines.

Nebitov noted that police officers serve in the "Yarist" brigade, created to carry out missions in the most challenging sectors of the front, as well as in the "Khizhak" brigade and rifle battalions. They participated in the defense of Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and other settlements.

The Deputy Head of the National Police emphasized that combat units are formed exclusively from police personnel, which creates a staffing shortage. Mobilized civilians cannot be assigned to these units.
