Early in the morning on July 26, a Russian drone attacked the “Epicenter” hypermarket in Kryvyi Rih. The fire engulfed more than 16,000 square meters of the building.
This information was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the Kryvyi Rih Defense Council, the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security.
According to Vilkul, a large shopping center was targeted in the attack. Rescue workers have contained the fire, and utility services—including the city’s water utility—are ensuring an uninterrupted water supply to address the aftermath.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs clarified that the strike destroyed a construction supply store. Firefighting efforts are being hampered by constant air raid alerts and the threat of follow-up strikes.
“To address the aftermath of the shelling, we have deployed robotic and unmanned vehicles to ensure the safety of rescue workers. All necessary police units are working at the scene. Psychologists are providing support to the victims, and investigators are documenting this latest attack on civilian targets,” said Interior Minister Ivan Vyhovsky.
The Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security confirmed that a Russian drone struck the “Epicenter” hypermarket.
The shopping center had been operating in Kryvyi Rih for nearly 19 years—since December 2007—providing jobs for about 400 people.
