An 89-year-old resident tragically died in a fire on his property in the town of Skvyra, in the Bila Tserkva district. According to the Kyiv Regional Police, the incident occurred while the man was burning dry vegetation.
The wind quickly spread the flames, causing the fire to engulf a large area, and the man died at the scene. Law enforcement officials are currently investigating all the details of the incident.

Since the beginning of the year, over 192 fires in ecosystems have been recorded in the Kyiv region, with the fire destroying more than 111 hectares of land. Rescue workers from the State Emergency Service of the Kyiv region have repeatedly urged citizens to follow fire safety rules, especially to avoid starting fires in windy weather and to never leave a fire unattended.
In the past 24 hours alone, 43 fires in ecosystems were recorded in the region; the flames destroyed over 10 hectares of vegetation, posing a threat to residential buildings.
Burning dry vegetation negatively impacts the environment and human health, as harmful substances are released into the air, which can cause respiratory diseases and allergies.
