Rapid Rise: Diesel prices rose by 10–14 UAH/liter, reaching 86.90–95.90 UAH/liter, while gasoline prices increased by 4–8 UAH/liter.
Surprise and Frenzy: Wholesale diesel prices exceeded retail prices, prompting farmers to actively buy up fuel at retail, depleting supplies at some gas stations.
Reasons for the price increase: Tensions in the Middle East, a shortage of refining capacity in Europe, and new Ukrainian legislation mandating E-10 bioethanol content.
Forecast of 100 UAH/liter: Over the coming weeks, diesel will cost 90–92 UAH/liter, and without government intervention, the price could exceed 100 UAH/liter by mid-August.
No Shortage: There will be no systemic fuel shortage, but local supply disruptions at gas stations may continue until mid-September.
How Prices Are Changing at Gas Stations
According to monitoring of major chains (OKKO, WOG, SOCAR, “Ukrnafta”), fuel prices have risen across the board:
- Gasoline: regular rose by 6.5–8 UAH (to 77.90–85.40 UAH/liter), premium by 4–6.5 UAH (to 82.90–95.40 UAH/liter).
- Diesel: standard diesel rose by 10–13 UAH (to 86.90–92.90 UAH/liter), and premium diesel by 10–15 UAH (to 88.90–95.90 UAH/liter).
- Autogas: prices changed less, rising to 3.6 UAH (40.90–44.50 UAH/liter).
As of July 29, OKKO and WOG are charging 82.90–83.50 UAH/liter for regular A-95, 90.90–91.80 UAH/liter for diesel, while premium grades reach 93.90–94.80 UAH/liter, and gas—42.90–44.50 UAH/liter. Prices at SOCAR are higher: A-95 is 85.40 UAH/liter, and branded diesel exceeds 95.90 UAH/liter.
