Members of the Lutsk City Council voted in favor of a resolution regarding Mayor Ihor Polischuk’s resignation.
According to local media reports, the decision was adopted with 38 votes in favor of “the notice regarding Mayor Ihor Polischuk’s personal statement on his resignation.”
Ihor Polischuk stated that his decision is not related to NABU investigations or audits. “No one has confiscated my phone, and I am unaware of any proceedings against me. I do not consider it necessary to elaborate on the reasons for my resignation,” he noted.
Polishchuk had served as mayor since November 2020, and prior to that, since 2017, he had been secretary of the Lutsk City Council, acting mayor, and councilor.
Last December, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) conducted searches at the Lutsk City Council building in connection with an investigation into alleged improper benefits received by council members.
