The State Bureau of Investigations continues to uncover all the details of the tragic plane crash that claimed the lives of two military personnel on June 16 in the Khmelnytskyi region.
The investigation has established that this was the aircraft’s second flight of the day. Technical personnel did not detect any technical malfunctions prior to takeoff, and the documentation met all requirements.
It is known that the pilots were carrying out a combat mission, the details of which remain classified in the interests of national security.
The investigation has refuted rumors circulating online that one of the pilots ejected. This information is not accurate.
Numerous interviews were conducted during the investigation, including with family members of the deceased, command personnel, and colleagues. According to eyewitness accounts, the pilots had undergone a medical examination and were in good spirits. They are described as professionals with an excellent reputation among their colleagues.
Molecular genetic analysis confirmed the identification of the victims through DNA.
An internal investigation led by the command of the Ukrainian Air Force is ongoing. Once it is completed, an independent aviation-technical examination will be commissioned.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted in accordance with Part 2 of Article 416 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
