On the evening of October 2, the Rivne region came under attack by Russian forces, who used “Shahed”-type attack drones. As a result of this incident, two people were injured, according to Oleksandr Koval, head of the Rivne Regional Military Administration.
The injured were rushed to a medical facility; their condition is currently assessed as moderate. The attack drones struck non-residential buildings, causing a fire at the impact site.
Rescue workers labored through the night to extinguish the blaze and managed to put out the fire by morning. This attack is part of a recent intensification of Russian drone strikes on the Rivne and Volyn regions.
In addition, civilian infrastructure facilities were recently damaged in the Rivne region. In the neighboring Volyn region, Russian troops have also been increasingly targeting railway facilities and passenger trains.
The Russian drones used in these attacks are controlled via relay stations located in Belarus. Serhiy Bratchuk, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Volunteer Army, noted that Ukraine has the capabilities to counter these relay stations.
