On Sunday, May 3, a significant diplomatic event will take place in Yerevan on the sidelines of the European Political Community summit. Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for private talks. This was reported by Glavkom, citing iDnes.cz.

This will be the first face-to-face meeting between Babiš and Zelenskyy since the Czech politician was appointed prime minister. Although the specific topics of discussion remain unknown, Babiš emphasized the strategic importance of this contact, noting: “It is important that we meet.”

The Czech Prime Minister does not currently plan to visit Ukraine, but he mentioned the possibility of another meeting with Zelenskyy at a conference in Poland dedicated to Ukraine’s recovery.

Additionally, in Yerevan, Babiš has scheduled meetings with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Serbian Prime Minister Jura Matsuto, and Moldovan President Maia Sandu.

It is noteworthy that the Czech Republic has joined an expanded partial agreement to establish a special tribunal regarding Russia’s crime of aggression against Ukraine. Foreign Minister Andrej Sibiga announced that the Czech Republic has become the 23rd country to join this initiative and expressed hope that other countries will follow suit.
