Ihor Klymenko, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, announced that a resilience plan for Kyiv had been approved ahead of the fall-winter season. This document outlines the city’s preparations for potential attacks on critical infrastructure.
This decision concluded the process of approving resilience plans for cities across Ukraine. During an NSDC meeting chaired by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Council members officially approved the resilience plan for the capital. According to Klymenko, implementation of this plan has already begun.
Meeting participants also reviewed the implementation of comprehensive resilience plans for regions and individual cities. Reports were heard from the Prime Minister, members of the government, as well as the heads of the military administrations of the Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Lviv, Kherson, Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Poltava regions, and the mayors of Kyiv and Lviv.
As the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council noted, last winter was one of the toughest trials for Ukraine. Therefore, comprehensive resilience plans for regions and cities were approved this spring, and priority steps have now been identified to strengthen the country’s readiness for new challenges.
“Russia will not give up its attempts to strike at energy and critical infrastructure. Tonight’s attack on the Kyiv region has confirmed this once again: the enemy continues to launch targeted attacks,” Klymenko emphasized.
