The soccer players representing Russian clubs have concluded their participation in the 2026 World Cup. This happened after the Mexican national team lost to England 2–3 in the round of 16, according to information from Glavkom.
The Mexican team’s roster included César Montes of Moscow’s Lokomotiv and Luis Chávez of Moscow’s Dynamo. The Brazilian national team, which included St. Petersburg’s “Zenit” players Douglas Santos and Luis Enrique, also exited the tournament after a 1–2 loss to Norway. The Paraguayan team, which included Moscow Dynamo defender Juan Cáceres, lost to France 0–1.
Thus, there are no longer any players from Russian clubs in the World Cup. The first quarterfinal match of the 2026 World Cup will take place on July 9 at 11:00 p.m. Kyiv time. It will feature the national teams of France and Morocco.
The Moroccan team defeated Canada in the playoffs. In the second half, Hakimi passed to Unai, who precisely struck the corner of the net. Canada was unable to create any danger near the opponent’s goal, while the Moroccans capitalized on their chance. Unai finished off a counterattack by scoring another goal. Rahimi also had a chance to score but hit the crossbar.
As a reminder, France defeated Paraguay thanks to a decisive play in the 67th minute, when Désiré Doué earned a penalty after a foul by Gustavo Gómez.
