There is growing discussion in Europe that the Russian Federation may launch an attack in the coming years. When asked when such an attack is most likely to occur—after hostilities end or while they are still ongoing—Budanov responded as follows:
“Previously, they made a clear distinction: first, hostilities here must end, and only then… But now their plans are being adjusted slightly, so they are ready.”
However, the head of the President’s Office did not specify any possible timelines.
“According to all their documents, they were supposed to be ready to take action by early 2027, but again, all plans are subject to change. After all, there isn’t much time left until early 2027,” the statement reads.
That said, these are merely plans and preparations for such actions. They do not mean that a decision has already been made.
