President Donald Trump’s administration is exploring the possibility of increasing U.S. military activity in the Middle East, including potential strikes on strategically important Iranian targets. According to Glavkom, citing CNBC, Washington plans to strengthen its military presence in the region.
Various options are being considered, including operations that could target facilities critical to Iran’s economy and military infrastructure. One of the key targets is Kharg Island, which serves as Iran’s main oil export hub, through which 90% of the country’s oil shipments pass. In the past, the U.S. has already struck this island, destroying over 90 military facilities without damaging the oil infrastructure.
Discussions are also underway regarding other strategic locations, notably Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz, which is crucial for controlling maritime routes. According to reports, the U.S. administration is considering a ground operation on Iran’s Kharg Island, a key hub for Tehran’s energy exports.
This island, located in the northern part of the Persian Gulf, processes 90% of Iran’s oil, making it a critically important target for economic pressure. Although the U.S. Air Force already struck military targets on the island in March 2026, President Trump is considering sending in Marines and airborne units to gain full control of the oil infrastructure.
