Absence from NMT: what awaits participants in 2026

In 2026, nearly one-third of registered participants did not show up for the National Multidisciplinary Test (NMT), posing a financial challenge for the state.

Lack of Penalties

In Ukraine, there are no penalties for applicants who fail to take the NMT. The high rate of no-shows places significant pressure on the budget, as reported by UCOCO Director Tetiana Vakulenko in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

No-show statistics

  • During the main sessions in 2025, nearly one in ten registered students did not show up for the test.
  • During the supplementary sessions, this figure rose to nearly one-third.

The cost of a "free" test

As Vakulenko notes, the state invests significant resources in preparing each seat for a participant. In wartime, of course, circumstances may vary, but high no-show rates indicate an underestimation of the cost of “free” testing.

The UCOKO urges those who know they will be unable to take the exam to cancel their registration in advance.
