A resident of Lubny who collaborated with an agent of the Russian Federation’s special services and planned a terrorist attack in the Poltava region has been found guilty by a court. This was reported by “Glavkom,” citing the Office of the Prosecutor General.
The Russian agent was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
Prosecutors established that in March 2025, the woman was recruited via Telegram and carried out tasks for Russian intelligence services. Initially, she gathered information about targets in Kyiv and the Poltava region, specifically photographing a military facility and railway transport, and passing the data to the enemy in exchange for monetary compensation.
Later, the defendant agreed to plan a terrorist attack in her hometown. Following her handler’s instructions, she rented an apartment and constructed a homemade explosive device, for which she was promised $1,000 upon its installation. At the same time, Russian intelligence agencies planned to use her as a pawn and eliminate her during the commission of the crime.
Thanks to the coordinated efforts of law enforcement, the attack was prevented, and the woman was detained. In court, she fully admitted her guilt and explained her actions by saying she did not realize the consequences because she “did not watch the news.”
It should be noted that the SBU also prevented a new series of terrorist attacks in Kharkiv. An FSB agent was detained in the regional center who was preparing a series of bombings in the frontline city.
