The first “Ukrainian Bookshelf” in East Africa opens in Nairobi

In Kenya’s capital, Nairobi, the first “Ukrainian Bookshelf” in East Africa was officially unveiled at the National Library. The event was part of a global initiative that brings together 390 such bookshelves in 72 countries around the world, supported by Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska.

The opening ceremony, held under the patronage of the Ukrainian Embassy in Kenya, was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, Kenyan cultural and educational institutions, as well as members of the Ukrainian community.

In her video message, Olena Zelenska emphasized the importance of books for mutual understanding between nations, as well as in the fight against disinformation and stereotypes.
