The State Bureau of Investigations has charged two servicemen from the medical company of the 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skelya.” They are accused of brutally beating and unlawfully detaining two fellow soldiers in the Kirovohrad region, according to “Glavkom,” citing the SBI.
The investigation established that in May 2026, two soldiers who had violated established regulations were sent to the unit’s medical unit after being discharged from the hospital. There, two other soldiers decided to “discipline” them on their own for the disciplinary violations.
According to the investigation, the suspects struck the victims numerous times, after which they locked them in a utility building, where they continued the abuse.
One of the soldiers lost consciousness and was hospitalized with a traumatic brain injury, a broken nose, and other injuries. The other victim was unlawfully detained for nearly another day, after which he was also hospitalized with a traumatic brain injury, contusions, and hematomas.
The suspects have been detained. They are charged with torture and violations of statutory rules governing relations among military personnel, accompanied by beatings and abuse (Part 2 of Article 127, Part 3 of Article 406 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Penalties under these articles provide for up to 10 years of imprisonment. The issue of imposing a preventive measure in the form of pretrial detention is currently being decided.
The State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) reported that the pretrial investigation is ongoing. Law enforcement officials are also investigating reports of possible mistreatment of military personnel at the regiment’s deployment and training sites.
