Onion prices in Ukraine are rising again after a long lull

For the first time since February, Ukrainian producers have raised prices for onions.

This was reported by analysts from the EastFruit project, according to Ukrinform.

According to daily monitoring data, farmers are currently willing to sell onions for no less than 4–9 UAH/kg ($0.09–0.20/kg). This is, on average, 40% higher than at the end of last week.

Despite the price increase, onions in Ukraine are currently on average 68% cheaper than at the same time last year.

"Demand for onions remains high due to limited supply, especially of high-quality produce. Most farms have already sold all their stocks, and those that still have high-quality produce are expecting further price increases," experts noted.

In general, there has been no significant increase in onion prices since May 2025. The current rise is linked to seasonal depletion of stocks and increased purchasing activity by wholesalers.
