Iran attacks airbase in Saudi Arabia: 12 US troops wounded

Iran carried out an attack on Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia, injuring 12 U.S. service members, two of whom are in critical condition.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing Reuters and CNN.

Damage to equipment and personnel

U.S. officials note that two service members suffered shrapnel wounds that are not life-threatening. Another source in the U.S. government reported damage to a refueling aircraft during the attack.

The New York Times specifies that the strike on the base was a combined attack: Iran used missiles and drones. This marked one of the most serious breaches of U.S. air defenses during the nearly month-long war.

Serious damage to aircraft

In addition to personnel, equipment was also damaged. According to the NYT, two KC-135 refueling aircraft sustained significant damage.

Continuation of the conflict

Reuters notes that more than 300 U.S. military personnel have been wounded since the start of the war against Iran. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that hostilities with Iran could last another two to four weeks, despite hopes for a swift end to the conflict.
