Katarina Zavatska returns to WTA tournaments after a long break

Ukrainian tennis player Kateryna Zavatska is preparing to compete in the qualifying rounds of the WTA 250 tournament in Bogotá, Colombia. The tournament’s prize money totals $283,347.

In the first round of qualifying, Zavatska, who is ranked 292nd in the WTA rankings, will face Brazilian Laura Pigossi, who is ranked 210th. In 2023, Katarina already faced Pigossi at the WTA 125 tournament in Croatia, where she emerged victorious.

The winner of this match will face either Liang Ying-shuo of Taiwan (346) or Selena Yanichevich of France (243) in the final qualifying round.

This is Zavatska’s second appearance at the tournament in Bogotá. In 2024, she successfully advanced through qualifying but lost in the first round of the main draw.

This tournament will be Katarina’s first since January 2025, when she ended her WTA campaign after a loss in qualifying in Auckland, New Zealand.

Zavatska recently won the ITF W35 tournament in Sabadell, Spain.
