Emergency power outages have been implemented on the left bank of Kyiv, according to DTEK. "Emergency outages have been implemented at the direction of Ukrenergo. We ask that you use electricity sparingly to help maintain the stability of the power grid," the company stated.
The reasons for these outages have not yet been disclosed. Earlier, Ukrenergo explained that electricity consumption in Ukraine had increased significantly due to the heat wave.
"As of 9:30 a.m. on June 25, electricity consumption was 3.7% higher than at the same time last Wednesday. This is due to high temperatures across Ukraine, which are prompting people to use air conditioners more frequently," the statement said.
