The National Bank of Ukraine has announced the introduction of a new 2,000-hryvnia banknote into circulation. This decision is due to economic changes, rising wages and prices, and an increase in the amount of cash in circulation.
When will the new banknote be available?
The new banknote will enter circulation on September 4, 2026. Starting on that date, banks will begin receiving it to distribute to customers.

Reasons for Introducing the New Banknote
The introduction of the new banknote is driven by a threefold increase in the average monthly salary and a doubling of prices since 2019. In addition, the amount of cash in circulation exceeded 970 billion hryvnia, and 1,000-hryvnia bills accounted for more than 55% of the total, necessitating the introduction of a new denomination.
