An unmanned aerial vehicle that had washed ashore was found on the Black Sea coast in Turkey’s Ordu Province. An inspection revealed that it did not contain explosives, although the investigation is ongoing.
This information was reported by Ukrinform, citing Hürriyet. “The object, believed to be an unmanned aerial or maritime vehicle, appeared on the shore in the Fatsa district of Ordu Province,” the publication reported.
The device is estimated to be about 2 meters long and 50 centimeters wide. Law enforcement officials arrived at the scene. A preliminary investigation revealed no explosives or ammunition in the device. The device was handed over to experts for further analysis.
Other cases of drone detection
Earlier, in February of last year, a drone believed to belong to Russia was detected in the same province of Ordu. This is not the first time Russian unmanned aerial vehicles have been detected on Turkish territory.
Last December, the Turkish Air Force shot down a drone over the Black Sea that was approaching the country’s airspace. An F-16 fighter jet was used for this purpose.
Also, in northwestern Turkey, in the province of Kocaeli, which borders Istanbul, a Russian Orlan-10 drone was found. And in western Turkey, in the province of Balıkesir, a drone crashed in a vacant lot.
