Ukrzaliznytsia remains the largest employer in Ukraine, according to Opendatabot

Opendatabot, using data from companies' financial reports, has released a ranking of the country's largest employers, according to Ukrinform.

Ukrzaliznytsia continues to lead

Over the past five years, Ukrzaliznytsia has maintained its position as the largest employer in Ukraine, although its workforce has been gradually decreasing. Over the course of the year, the workforce shrank by 5%, amounting to 169,952 employees. Since the start of the full-scale war, the number of employees has decreased by 27%, or 62,800 people.

ATB-Market and Gas Distribution Networks of Ukraine

ATB-Market LLC ranks second with 46,649 employees. Over the past year, the company increased its workforce by 565 people (+1%), but has lost 14,133 employees (-23%) since the start of the war.

Gas Distribution Networks of Ukraine LLC ranks third with 39,444 employees. Over the course of the year, the company increased its workforce by 1,770 people (+5%), which is the largest increase among the leaders in the ranking.

Silpo and Ukrposhta

The Silpo supermarket chain rose to fourth place with 32,367 employees, adding 1,001 people over the year (+3%). However, compared to 2021, the company lost 9,808 employees (-23%).

Ukrposhta, now in fifth place, has 31,739 employees. Although the number has not changed over the year, the long-term decline is significant—a reduction of 30,634 people (-49%) compared to 2021.

The operator “Nova Poshta” holds sixth place with 27,572 employees. Over the year, the workforce remained virtually unchanged (+0.2%), but since 2021, the reduction has amounted to 2,218 employees (-7%).

In seventh place is NAEK Energoatom with 25,740 employees; over the year, their number decreased by 6%. In eighth place is the State Enterprise “Forests of Ukraine” with 22,252 employees, also a 6% reduction.
