Comments from the creators
Director Svitlana Lishchynska shared her impressions of working on the film in a press release for Suspilne Kultura. “I’ve been working on this project for over two years, trying to immerse myself in the material without rushing. The selection of our film for Cannes Docs is a great joy and proof that this story matters not only for Ukraine but also for other post-totalitarian societies,” she noted.
The Marché du Film will take place from May 12 to 20, where the Ukrainian film “Crossing the Ox” will be screened. “This is an important step in the project’s international development and an opportunity to present a story that highlights how the past continues to influence the present,” added producer Olga Gibelinda.
It is worth noting that “Crossing the Ox” has already been presented at international film markets, including the East Doc Platform in Prague, where it received the Docs Up Fund Award.
