Since the start of the war against Ukraine, July has been one of the bloodiest months for Russia. Russian troops have suffered significant losses on the battlefield, according to RBC-Ukraine, citing The New York Post.
In July, Russia lost 42,860 personnel on the battlefield, including those killed and wounded. This is the highest figure since January 2025 and the fourth bloodiest month since the war began in 2022. According to experts’ estimates, the total number of Russian casualties is approaching 1.5 million, and the problem of recruiting new soldiers is becoming increasingly urgent for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. If he runs out of soldiers, he may be forced to begin peace negotiations.
The publication notes that in recent months, Putin has become so desperate that he has had to lure his compatriots into the war with false promises of “peaceful service” or recruit Africans through similar fraudulent schemes.
Meanwhile, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have recaptured approximately 780 square kilometers on the southern front, liberating 26 settlements along the front line and returning them to Ukraine’s full control. Ukrainian defenders pushed Russian troops back more than 11 km on the southern front, near the junction of the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions. These small-scale attacks are gradually eroding Russian control.
