Ukraine is successfully shooting down 90% of enemy drones and nearly 80% of cruise missiles, even after a harsh winter during which Russia doubled the number of attacks.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing a statement by Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.
German Defense Minister’s Visit to Kyiv
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius visited Kyiv, where he saw how Ukraine is defending its airspace. Fedorov showed Pistorius the positions of “small” air defense systems and an energy facility in Kyiv that had been damaged by Russian attacks.
Technologies to counter attacks
- Measures to counter "Shahed"-type drones;
- Mobile fire teams;
- Technologies for destroying enemy targets.
According to Fedorov, last winter was one of the hardest for Ukraine. “Russia nearly doubled the number of attacks. In just a few months, the enemy launched over 1,000 ballistic and cruise missiles and 27,000 Shahed-type drones. The main target was Ukraine’s energy sector and large-scale blackouts during periods of freezing temperatures down to -20°C,” the minister noted.
Fedorov named Germany as one of the key leaders in strengthening Ukraine’s air defense. Berlin supplied missiles for the “Patriot” system, funded the PURL mechanism, and initiated the transfer of missiles from European stockpiles during the most critical winter period.
