The Netherlands has already provided Ukraine with all possible support in the context of the war. Dutch Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen noted in an interview with Radio Free Europe that pressure now needs to be put on other countries to also provide Patriot systems and missiles for them.
“We have already provided everything we could,” Berendsen said, commenting on Ukraine’s request for additional Patriot systems and interceptor missiles. According to him, this issue was already discussed with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga during the NATO summit.
“We are working to determine how we can jointly encourage other countries to do more. The Netherlands is one of the leaders on this issue, and we have both the capacity and the willingness to continue our support,” the minister emphasized.
Berendsen stressed that this issue is important not only for Ukraine but also for the security of the Netherlands. “Everything we invest in Ukraine is an investment in our own security, thanks to the knowledge and innovations being developed in Ukraine’s defense-industrial complex. But we need to put more pressure on other countries so that they also get involved,” he added.
Although Berendsen did not name specific countries that should be pressured, he noted that many European countries, such as Germany and Poland, are already providing significant assistance.
