Ukraine and Norway to join forces to produce drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Ukraine and Norway will jointly launch the production of Ukrainian drones, which are highly resistant to electronic warfare (EW). All products manufactured under this project in Norway will be transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This project will be funded by Norway using additional funds beyond the previously planned $7 billion in defense support for Ukraine in 2026. The agreement was signed in Kyiv by Lars Ragnar Aalered Hansen, Norway’s Ambassador to Ukraine, and Serhiy Boyov, Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Defense for European Integration.

Norway plans to allocate over $1.5 billion for the purchase of Ukrainian weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine this year.

Drone Specifications

The plan is to produce mid-strike drones capable of striking targets in the enemy’s immediate rear at ranges of 50 to 200 km. These drones have a longer strike range and carry a more powerful warhead compared to FPV drones, while also offering better resistance to electronic warfare. They are a more cost-effective alternative to missiles of similar range.

The first systems, manufactured in Norway, are expected to be delivered to the Ukrainian Armed Forces by this summer.
