U.S. President Donald Trump unveiled the design of a new commemorative passport, issued in limited quantities to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States, which is being celebrated this year.
CNN reported this, according to Ukrinform. In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “The new U.S. passport reads: ‘Welcome, but behave yourself!’”
He shared an image of a spread from the passport, with one page featuring his portrait at the “Resolute” desk against a backdrop of text from the U.S. Declaration of Independence. His signature appears on the same page. The other page features John Trumbull’s painting “The Declaration of Independence.”
Trump’s portrait for the new passport was created based on his image from the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. Later, the White House’s official account on the social media platform X also posted this image with the caption: “New U.S. passport in honor of America’s 250th anniversary.”
When asked about the official status of this design, the White House referred journalists to the State Department, which has not yet provided any comments.
The release of the commemorative passport was first announced in April as part of preparations for the U.S. 250th anniversary celebrations. It was presented as a “limited-edition U.S. passport commemorating America’s 250th anniversary,” featuring specially designed illustrations and an updated layout for the cover and interior pages.
As one official noted in a comment to CNN, this design will be used for passports issued by the Washington Passport Agency only to those who renew their documents in person.
