Trump accuses Netanyahu of ingratitude during phone call

During a phone call, U.S. President Donald Trump harshly criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling him “crazy” and accusing him of ingratitude.

According to RBC-Ukraine, citing Axios, the tension stemmed from Israel’s continued escalation in Lebanon, which, according to Trump, threatened to derail negotiations with Iran.

What Trump said during the conversation

Trump expressed his outrage that the bombing of Beirut could further isolate Israel on the international stage. “You’re out of your damn mind. You’d be in jail if it weren’t for me. I’m saving you,” U.S. officials quoted Trump as saying.

Another source added that at one point Trump exclaimed, “What the hell are you doing?”

On prison and ingratitude

Trump also reminded Netanyahu of his support during the corruption trial, hinting that it was thanks to this that the prime minister avoided imprisonment. According to the official, Trump “destroyed” Netanyahu in this conversation. The Israeli prime minister’s reaction was restrained: “Okay, okay, just make sure everything is under control.”
