Naftogaz has secured LNG capacity in Europe for the next decade

The Naftogaz Group has taken an important step by securing long-term capacity for the regasification of liquefied natural gas in Europe for the first time. An LNG terminal in Klaipėda, Lithuania, has been booked for the period from 2033 to 2044.

Serhiy Koretskyi, Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine, announced this on his Facebook page. He noted that previously such operations were carried out jointly with other companies, but now Naftogaz has reached a new level of cooperation and supply planning.

Koretsky emphasized that these strategic decisions are of great importance for Ukraine’s energy security. They expand opportunities for access to the global LNG market and strengthen the long-term stability of gas supplies.

As a reminder, Ukraine and Lithuania previously agreed on long-term reservations for liquefied natural gas supplies via the terminal in Klaipėda.
