The European Commissioner stressed that the energy supply situation in Europe is “very serious,” and even if peace is restored in the near future, a return to normal life is impossible.
During an emergency meeting of energy ministers from the 27 EU countries, Jørgensen emphasized that conserving oil is now critically important.

- Work from home if possible;
- Reduce speed on highways;
- Encourage the use of public transportation and car-sharing;
- Adopt fuel-efficient driving techniques.

In the long term, Jorgensen called on the EU to accelerate the development of renewable energy sources and increase energy independence.
