The severe weather that has hit Ukraine has left approximately 600 communities in eight regions without power, according to Ukrenergo, as reported by Glavkom.
These include the Kyiv, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Volyn, Lviv, Cherkasy, Ternopil, and Khmelnytskyi regions. In these regions, regional power company crews are already working to restore damaged power lines.
In addition, Ukrenergo reminds the public that electricity consumption restrictions will be in effect today from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. in all regions of Ukraine.
The company urges industrial consumers and businesses to take advantage of the opportunity to import more than 60% of their own consumption in order to avoid hourly power outages and support the power grid. It is also recommended to shift the use of high-power electrical appliances to daytime hours from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and to use electricity as sparingly as possible in the evening from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
In Lviv, a six-year-old girl was hospitalized after being struck by lightning; she is currently in intensive care under medical supervision.
Also in Lviv, strong winds toppled 30 trees, with the Halytskyi district being the hardest hit. In the Shevchenkivskyi district, seven trees were toppled, the district administration building was damaged, and seven cars were damaged.
In the village of Ozero in Volyn, lightning struck near a body of water, injuring seven people, four of whom were children.
