In July, China and Russia will hold joint naval exercises called "Maritime Interaction-2026" in the Yellow Sea. Afterward, warships from both countries will set out to conduct joint patrols in the Pacific Ocean.

The ministry noted that the exercises will take place in the waters and airspace near the city of Qingdao. After the exercises conclude, the armed forces of both countries will conduct joint maritime patrols in the Pacific Ocean. The “Maritime Interaction-2026” exercises are part of the annual cooperation plan between the armed forces of the two countries.
The Chinese Ministry of Defense stated that these measures are aimed at “responding to security challenges and promoting regional peace and stability.” At the same time, the ministry did not provide information on the exact dates of the exercises or the number of military personnel and equipment involved.
Russian-Chinese Exercises
Earlier, media reports indicated that Russia and China had secretly conducted joint exercises related to the war in Ukraine. Generals from both sides were “spotted” during these exercises.
This spring, Reuters learned that China had secretly trained about 200 Russian occupiers on its territory in late 2025. Some of them subsequently returned to fight against Ukraine. This was later confirmed by the EU and NATO.
