Bulgaria has exhausted its capacity to supply Ukraine with new weapons, but is ready to provide repairs for Ukrainian military equipment as part of its military-technical support.
Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev made this statement ahead of the NATO summit, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.
“We can no longer provide military support in the form of weapons and ammunition from our stockpiles. We have provided 13 aid packages, but now we have nothing more to supply to Ukraine,” Radev noted.
He emphasized that Bulgaria will continue to provide technical military assistance, meaning it is ready to accept Ukrainian equipment for repair.
At the NATO summit in Ankara on July 7–8, defense industry issues were discussed, and several new contracts for joint weapons production were announced.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who also attended the summit, stressed the importance of strengthening Ukraine’s air defense and consolidating its diplomatic positions.
During the summit, Zelenskyy held meetings with the leaders of several countries, including the President of Finland, the Chancellor of Germany, the Prime Ministers of Norway, the Netherlands, and Canada, as well as the NATO Secretary General.
A bilateral meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump is expected today.
