A device resembling a listening device was found in the official car of Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi, marking the second such incident in the past year. The mayor reported this on his Telegram channel, showing the discovered device in a video.
According to Sadovyi, the device has an antenna, a SIM card, and other components. The discovery came after the car’s battery had completely drained twice within a month and knocking sounds were heard inside the vehicle.
Sadovyi handed the device over to law enforcement and speculated that it might have been installed officially. He noted: “If that’s the case, let law enforcement just take it away.”
According to the mayor, transparency and openness are the keys to his security, which is why he decided to inform the public about the discovery.
In September 2025, unauthorized technical devices had already been discovered in his office, including one built into a phone charger. Following this, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) opened a criminal investigation and indicated its intention to seize the equipment for forensic analysis.
