President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that today’s war is entering a new phase, in which defending the skies has become a priority. He made these remarks in an interview with the Financial Times, according to Ukrinform, citing his Telegram channel.
“The war is changing. Peace and victory belong to those who are capable of thinking strategically. Our military has stopped the enemy on the front lines, but now that the front is stable and the sea is under our control, the battle is shifting to the skies. This has become the new priority,” Zelenskyy noted.
The president highlighted Ukraine’s lack of anti-ballistic systems, which is a serious problem. “We weren’t prepared for this; we didn’t have any anti-ballistic programs. All of that remained in Russia after the collapse of the Soviet Union. We do not have nuclear weapons, which is why we are not part of the ‘protected club,’” he emphasized.
Zelenskyy is confident that the battle for the skies will be decisive in this war. “Intelligence plays a decisive role in the skies. If our partners support us financially and our soldiers hold their positions, every kilometer will become a difficult task for the enemy. And we will fight for the skies,” the head of state emphasized.
Earlier, Zelenskyy noted the successful actions of Ukrainian forces in shooting down drones and cruise missiles following yet another massive strike.
