Petr Pavel, the president of the Czech Republic, attended the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix, but not in his usual role as a guest of honor. He appeared in the paddock with a photojournalist’s press pass and a professional camera in hand. This was reported by “Glavkom,” citing Eurosport.
The President’s Unexpected Passion
Photography has long been a hobby for Pavel. This time, he decided to spend Saturday at the track, photographing the drivers and teams. This isn’t his first time doing this: in May, he took photos at the Speedway Grand Prix in Prague, and he was also among the accredited photographers at the “24 Hours of Le Mans.”
Prior to that, Pavel had been carrying out official duties, hosting Czech tennis players Linda Nosková and Karolína Muchová at Prague Castle. The next day, he swapped his official suit for a photographer’s vest and headed to Budapest.
Hungarian Grand Prix Qualifying
Pavel witnessed a thrilling qualifying session, where Lando Norris of McLaren secured his first pole position of the season, beating Lewis Hamilton by 0.012 seconds. However, Hamilton lost his second-place position due to a penalty, and Charles Leclerc, Norris’s teammate, took the spot next to him on the starting grid. After ten races, Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes remains the championship leader.
