Official Farewell: Zinchenko Leaves Ajax After 20 Minutes on the Field

The Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam has officially confirmed the departure of Ukrainian utility player Oleksandr Zinchenko from the team. The player, who spent only 20 minutes on the field during his entire time with the club, is leaving as a free agent, as the parties decided not to renew his contract, which was set to expire on June 30, 2026.

Farewell in the Capital and Roster Changes

Along with Zinchenko, goalkeeper Vitezslav Yarosh and defender Takehiro Tomiyasu have also left the team. Club management thanked the foreign players for their professionalism and contribution to the team’s development. “We would like to express our gratitude to Vitezslav, Takehiro, and Oleksandr for their dedication and wish them success in their future careers,” the club’s press service stated.

As a reminder, Oleksandr Zinchenko joined Ajax from London’s Arsenal on February 1, 2026. Initially, the club was counting on his Premier League experience to bolster its bid for a spot in the Champions League. However, due to an injury, the player was able to participate in only two matches, spending a total of just 20 minutes on the field, and did not manage to make any significant contributions.
