On October 30, an explosion occurred at an ammunition factory in El Fargu, on the outskirts of Granada, Spain. According to preliminary reports, no one suffered serious injuries, the Spanish newspaper ABC reports.
The explosion occurred around 9 a.m. in the waste incineration area of the gunpowder factory. According to local emergency services, the incident took place during testing, which is standard practice for this facility.
The 112 emergency service reported that three people sustained minor injuries and hearing damage and are currently in the hospital. The plant is owned by the Slovak company MSM Group, which operates under strict conditions of secrecy.
Plant employees undergo daily security and metal detection checks and are not allowed to enter the premises with cell phones. Since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the plant has focused on producing ammunition of various sizes and missile components.
It should be noted that the plant, which had previously been at risk of closure, is now expanding its operations. In August of this year, a powerful explosion occurred in Colleferro, near Rome, at the former Simmel Difesa plant, owned by KNDS Ammo Italy, which also manufactures ammunition.
