Mobile Internet in Ukraine: when 4G will replace 3G

Significant changes in the mobile communications sector are expected in Ukraine soon. Leading operator Kyivstar plans to migrate some of its subscribers to high-speed 4G internet, phasing out outdated 3G technology in a number of communities.

This move is part of a large-scale modernization of the telecommunications network, aimed at improving connection quality and preparing for the rollout of the latest 5G technologies.

When will the transition to 4G take place?

According to information provided by Kyivstar, the 3G shutdown is scheduled for May 26, 2026. On that day, the frequency band will be reallocated in favor of 4G, which will ensure higher speeds and greater stability for mobile internet.

Why is this important

The operator explains that this step complies with international standards and is part of their long-term strategy for developing communications infrastructure. Phasing out 3G will allow them to focus on implementing modern technologies already used by leading global operators.
