In the capital, law enforcement officers detained a 56-year-old foreign national suspected of a series of brazen thefts from delivery drivers. This was reported by “Glavkom,” citing the Kyiv Police press service.
The suspect operated according to a well-established scheme: he would look for delivery drivers at markets and fairs who had just received their earnings and ask for a ride. During the trip, he would figure out where the drivers kept their money and, distracting their attention, would steal the funds. Afterward, the criminal would ask the driver to stop the car and quickly disappear.
The police in the Solomyanskyi and Desnianskyi districts received reports of thefts totaling 105,000 UAH and 70,000 UAH from work vehicles.
Thanks to the cooperation between the criminal investigation department and criminal analysts, the suspect was identified and detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. During a search, 70,000 UAH was found in his possession.
The investigation established the foreign national’s involvement in at least two incidents of theft in different parts of the city. He has been charged under Part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft committed repeatedly under martial law). The suspect faces up to eight years in prison.
As a reminder, earlier, Kyiv police exposed a 37-year-old resident of the capital who defrauded an acquaintance living abroad by embezzling money from the sale of an SUV.
