The Ukrainian Ministry of Justice has filed a request with the High Anti-Corruption Court to confiscate the assets of former Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and his son Oleksiy. This was reported by "Glavkom," citing the ministry's press service.
Sanctions against the Azarovs
The Ministry of Justice insists on imposing sanctions that would allow for the seizure of the Azarovs’ assets in favor of the state. After fleeing Ukraine in 2014, Mykola Azarov actively supported the annexation of Crimea and denied the legitimacy of the Ukrainian government.
Support for Russian aggression
With the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Mykola Azarov continued to support the aggressor by spreading Russian propaganda and justifying the war. His son, Oleksiy Azarov, a former deputy from the “Party of Regions,” has business interests in Russia that provide logistical support for the aggression.
List of assets subject to confiscation
- Real estate and land plots in Kyiv and the surrounding region
- Cash and corporate rights
- Jewelry
- Books and icons of historical and cultural value
Mykola Azarov headed the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine from 2010 to 2014, and his son Oleksiy left Ukraine after his father’s resignation.
