In recent weeks, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Canada, New Zealand, and Switzerland have imposed new sanctions against Russia and entities supporting its military efforts in Ukraine. This was reported by “Glavkom,” citing comments by Vladislav Vlasyuk, the president’s representative on sanctions policy.
Vlasyuk noted that the United Kingdom has expanded its restrictions to include Russia’s financial and energy sectors. In particular, Ozon Bank has been targeted by sanctions, and its app has already been removed from Google Play. The British restrictions also affected the Indian company Frion Ship Management LLP, which, according to Vlasyuk, facilitated the transfer of the gas carrier Arctic Express to Russia. The sanctions also cover a number of other banks, enterprises within the Russian military-industrial complex, and vessels in the “shadow fleet.”
The European Union has imposed personal sanctions against the heads of factories that manufacture systems for Russia’s Iskander-M and Sarmat missiles. Switzerland has added the top management of Rostec and the United Shipbuilding Corporation to its sanctions lists.
Canada has blocked the operations of Streit Group, a manufacturer of armored vehicles whose equipment is used by the Russian National Guard. In its 36th round of sanctions, New Zealand imposed restrictions on cyber entities involved in the deportation of Ukrainian children, as well as on entities from Iran and North Korea that support the Kremlin in continuing the war against Ukraine.
