Renowned Ukrainian poet Lina Kostenko has presented her new book, titled *Wind from Mars*. It is a collection of poems spanning the period from Ukraine’s independence to the current war. This was reported by the publication *Glavkom*.
The publishing house “Ababagalama” released this book in honor of the poet’s birthday, which she celebrated on March 19, having reached the age of 96.
The new collection of poems
"Wind from Mars" brings together poems that have not yet been published, so readers have the opportunity to discover them for the first time. At the same time, some poems and the section "Briefly—Like a Diagnosis" were previously known.
The book harmoniously blends tragic prophecies and tenderness, political realities and nostalgia. War is portrayed not only as a historical crime but also as a threat on a planetary scale. “Wind from Mars” is a unique spiritual map of Ukraine, unbreakable and free.
Contemporary Poetry
Some of the poems were written in February 2026, including a piece dedicated to the anniversary of the start of the full-scale invasion on February 24.
One of the poems in the book:
Through those repressions and bars
and the nightly wail of these sirens,
and this hopelessness, pain, and loss
, life appears to me.
