The Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan has adopted a decision imposing an indefinite ban on the export of oil and petroleum products abroad, including to EAEU countries such as Russia and Belarus.
According to Radio Azattyk, the ban applies to the export of gasoline and diesel fuel by road and rail. However, an exception has been made for crude oil, fuel oil, and heating oil, which may be exported for processing provided they are returned to Kyrgyzstan.
The restrictions do not apply to fuel in the tanks of vehicles. The ban will remain in effect until the domestic market is saturated or a common EAEU market is established.
In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers has extended until April 1, 2027, the exemption on the import of certain petroleum products by road transport to avoid fuel shortages and ensure energy security.
Previously, the ban applied only to exports outside the EAEU, but it now extends to all member states of the union, including Armenia, Kazakhstan, and Russia.
