Interfaith solidarity event held in Lviv after mosque incident

An event aimed at strengthening solidarity among different religious denominations was held in Lviv following an attempted arson attack on a mosque. The event was attended by representatives of city and regional authorities, the leader of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev, the Grand Mufti of Crimea Ayder Rustemov, as well as numerous representatives of Muslim communities and clergy of various denominations.

Statement by Mustafa Dzhemilev

Speaking at the event, Mustafa Dzhemilev emphasized the importance of a public response to the act of vandalism directed against the mosque in Lviv. He expressed confidence that such provocations would not be able to undermine the unity of the Ukrainian people.

“The reaction of the local media, the mayor, and the presence of representatives of various faiths indicate that such provocations will be met with a proper response. It is clear that these actions are aimed at destabilizing the country,” Dzhemilev noted.

Grand Mufti on the arrest of the suspect

Crimea’s Grand Mufti Ayder Rustemov reported that the suspect in the attempted arson of the mosque has already been detained. He emphasized that traces of Russian interference are evident in this act of vandalism.

“This person has been detained, and an investigation is currently underway. We suspect a Russian connection,” Rustemov added.

Representatives of other religious denominations at the event emphasized the importance of interfaith solidarity and mutual respect, stressing that religiously motivated provocations are unacceptable.
