On the night of August 7–8, Russia launched an attack on Ukraine using ballistic missiles, S-400 anti-aircraft guided missiles, and attack drones. Air defense forces were able to destroy most of the enemy drones, but the ballistic missiles remained intact.
According to information provided by RBC-Ukraine, citing a Telegram post by the Ukrainian Air Force, the attack included:
- six Iskander-M ballistic missiles;
- S-400 anti-aircraft guided missiles launched from the Bryansk region;
- 151 attack drones of the Shahed, “Gerbera,” and “Italmas” types, as well as “Parody” decoy drones, from the following directions: Kursk, Millerovo, Orel, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Gvardeyskoye in Crimea.
Ukraine was defended by its air force, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups of the defense forces.
Air Defense Results
As of 09:00, according to preliminary data, air defense forces shot down or neutralized 135 enemy drones in the north, south, and east of the country. Missile strikes and 13 attack drones were detected at 12 locations, and debris was found at 7 locations. Several missiles missed their targets; details are being verified.
Shelling of Kyiv
As a reminder, on the night of August 8, Russian occupiers launched ballistic missiles at Kyiv. In the Holosiivskyi district, a fire was reported on the grounds of a non-residential building. In the Obolonskyi district, fuel tanks caught fire. Several casualties have been reported.
The Kyiv region was also targeted by drone attacks. In the Brovary district, a private residential building, outbuildings, and a car were damaged by falling debris. Three people were killed, including a child.
