Ukraine has begun testing 5G, which promises to significantly speed up mobile internet and provide new opportunities for users. Stanislav Prybytko, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation for Digital Infrastructure Development, spoke about this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
Will mobile service become more expensive?
Testing of the 5G network began today in Kyiv. According to Prybytk, the launch of this technology will not automatically lead to higher mobile service rates. “The Ministry of Digital Transformation does not influence the setting of mobile operators’ rates, but we have discussed this issue with the operators on numerous occasions—the launch of 5G does not mean an automatic increase in rates,” he noted. Users will be able to connect to the new network within the limits of their current rate plans.
What Will Change for Users
The main advantage of 5G will be significantly faster data transfer speeds. Large files will download in a matter of seconds, and videos will load almost instantly. In addition, the new technology provides lower signal latency, which means faster data exchange with the network. This is especially important for online gaming, virtual reality services, and other technologies that operate in real time.
