How Germany benefits from supporting Ukraine

Germany is actively drawing on Ukraine’s experience in developing modern military technologies that are being tested directly on the front lines. The two countries have agreed to strengthen defense cooperation and open new channels of interaction between governments and the business sector. This was announced by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, according to Glavkom, citing DW.

Benefits for Germany from supporting Ukraine

Boris Pistorius noted that Germany derives practical benefits from military aid to Ukraine, as it studies Ukrainian achievements in the fields of drones and cybersecurity. He emphasized that due to difficult circumstances, Ukraine has developed an incredible capacity for innovation. Technologies are developed not in laboratories but on the battlefield, ensuring their effectiveness and rapid implementation.

Deepening cooperation and new offices

The German Ministry of Defense plans to increase the number of military attachés at the embassy in Kyiv, who will serve as key points of contact for deepening defense cooperation. Economy Minister Katerina Reiche announced the opening of a special office for German companies wishing to cooperate with Ukraine.

Financial support for the coming years

The German government has confirmed that the 2027 budget, which will be presented shortly, includes continued support for Ukraine. According to the plans, Germany will allocate 11.6 billion euros in 2027, and from 2028 to 2030, annual aid will amount to 8.5 billion euros.

It is worth noting that Germany is one of the largest providers of military aid to Ukraine among European countries. Previously, the German government had already transferred modern IRIS air defense systems to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
